The dance of planning and preparing enough to make magic happen in the moment - this is my favourite style of creation.
With over 50+ events of different scales under my belt
Side Quest
In November 2024, a team of 4 ambitious members of V2 (Vancouver's place to build the future) sought out to create an entirely new event to set the precedent of what V2 could be.
We had 3 weeks.
Assembling the avengers (Ryan Haraki, Stuti Sharma, Irene Zhang, and myself), we created a 2-day-long create-a-thon style event where 8 groups of bright young minds went on a Side Quest - creating a project telling an untold story of Vancouver - with Mini Quests peppered throughout - including a scavenger hunt, community mural, and jam session.
With nearly perfect retention on sign-ups, overwhelmingly positive feedback, and 8 stellar projects (from a dramatic performance of forming a pact with AI, to using brain waves to control muscles) - we followed through on our north star to make everyone feel special so they can create magic.
Minimum Viable Demos
The blueprint for large scale event creation in the Atelier community (from which V2 was born), MVD was the brainchild of Donald Jewkes. In June of 2024, our team (Ananya, Clo, Steven, LeeJoo, Manveer) crafted a showcase of 12 beautiful, inspiring, cutting edge projects from a MAX MSP dance performance to an A Frame cabin built in the woods.
On top of stage managing, I ran the gallery, provided art, and consulted from the outset. MVD provided the momentum for what was to become a movement of ambitious creativity in the city.
UBC Brain and Music Symposiums
In 2021 & 2022, BaM saw it's first two flagship events. 400+ delegates from 10+ countries, keynote speakers like Dr. Psyche Loui and grammy-nominated artist Cody Fry.
After being dormant in 2023, I asked the former chair Mikey Jose if I could revive BaM in 2024. Since, we've created a whole new team, ran 3 successful events, organized systems complete with a rebrand, and I've appointed the Co-Chairs Betty Bao and Srishti Rao.
Acamazing Race
As part of my stint as online VP Events over the pandemic, I reinvented our usual Amazing Race scavenger hunt day into a week-long worldbuilt extravaganza complete with lore, teams, asynchronous puzzles, and a final showdown day.
